The First Day of the Rest of High School.
The first day of high school is so important. Why? Because once it’s over, so are your first day jitters. And now you can get ready to buckle down for the ride.
Do you remember the first day of your high school career? I do, like it was yesterday.
I remember being so worried about going to the wrong class and getting lost. My schedule had both semesters on one read out, so I really wasn’t sure who were my first semester teachers and who were my second. When I walked into shop class, (nice and sweaty hot because I wasn’t sure if this was the right class…), there was a class already going on. Oops.
I remember a particular older boy laughing at me ( I won’t mention any names). After having asked the teacher for help, I was then pointed in the right direction. Turns out, after I finally did it (got lost that is and went to the wrong class), I was able to find my classes without any trouble for the rest of my high school career. And you know what else?
After that first day of seventh grade and being so afraid of getting lost, my eyes were opened to seeing my friends.
I wasn’t alone. Each one helped me in their own special way. Some gave a listening ear or a shoulder to cry on. Some were my best friends, others toughened me up, and some made me so mad…but that’s what friends are for, right?
I’m thankful for each of the wonderful friends that grew along side me in those years. They were and are truly special; each one having a special place in my heart.
I tell you, friends are so important. We are created to have relationships, friendships, and to communicate. We weren’t ever created to be alone. I’m thankful for my relationship with Jesus Christ. He is my Ultimate Friend!
Looking back over your high school career, what was your first day like? Did you get lost? Could you open your locker? Did you have to find friends or were they already there?
