Book You Were Made to Praise God in a lavander field

Celebrate

“Celebrate, celebrate God’s love, celebrate, shout, and sing!” – Anonymous

It has been a month of joyous celebration as I completed my bachelor’s degree and traveled around the Eastern United States visiting family and friends. There is nothing like family. If you think about it, we can’t choose our parents, siblings, place of birth, or how we grew up – these things forged us though and I imagine I’m not alone in the ability to be able to tell some wild stories about childhood!

Family creates bonds that no other relationships can, in 2021 my siblings and I lost both of our parents and we’ve needed this whole time to grieve. So our getting together this past July was far more than just celebrating our nation’s birthday, we were solidifying our bond to each other despite our loss and celebrating our parents lives. Even in these moments we can praise God, it may not be easy, but it can bring a sense of peace in the wake of grief. This belief was planted as a seed in my heart (so to speak) as a child, the gift of singing, and worshiping with my whole being was demonstrated time and again every Sunday when mom taught us to follow along in the hymn book and learn how to sing with a joyful noise. But it was more than that, I am so thankful for those Sunday memories, the drive, listening to Kenny Rogers on 8 track, and singing with my sisters that has now grown into the fruit of “You Were Made to Praise God”.

Don’t be afraid to praise God no matter the season, no matter your age, and no matter where you are because you were made to praise Him.
