A New Years Present
Tonight as we sat on the wrap around porch protected from the night rain a band played. I have no picture to share with you, but it is a moment in time I won’t ever forget. Try and imagine it…
A small boy around 7 years of age eagerly asked his father if he could sing a song with them. As they discussed it together with the band a song was agreed upon. As they began to sing, the father looked lovingly at his son and the son looked at him in return. They sang with the joy of the Lord praises to our King. As the father poured out his praise to our Savior, his son did so in return with intensity (and in tune!) exemplifying Colossians 3:16.
In that moment they shared a snap shot of God the Father’s love towards his Son, and ultimately towards us. The son looked to his father for direction, wisdom, and leading. His father encouraged and loved him in return. The song was beautiful. The passion that flowed from them and between them during that moment was priceless.
Oh, how the Father loves us and longs for us to trust Him! Looking to Him not just with our eyes but with all that we are – loving Him with all of our heart, soul, mind, and strength.
As the New Year continues remember to keep your eyes on Christ for He has His eye on you.
Happy New Year!
