Check out these comparison’s of the movie/book Safe Haven to God’s Word.

How many times have you caught yourself running away?  Now I am not just talking about physically running I am talking about personally.  I am talking about situations of the heart.  About you.  Have you ever ran from a situation that was harmful? Or something that scared you?  Or from grief? Or your past? The list is almost endless.

Yet, know matter how far or hard you run that something or someone is still after you?  To me that drunken man represented evil, Satan.  Getting in our face, blaming us, beating us down, making us feel guilty like it’s all our fault.  Reminding us of our past, telling us we can’t escape it. Then being all sugary sweet, luring us, we listen…only to begin the process again.

In the movie, Katie (who changed her name), knew she couldn’t stay there.  She had to get away or she’d die.  She took a step of faith.  She ran, not knowing where she was going.   When she stopped, she thought it was just a hidden house, but it was more than just a place for her to live.  It was a safe place for her heart.  Slowly she let her guard down and began to love.  Could he be trusted?  When the truth of her past came out, she began to run again, only to be stopped by the One who loved her.  He held her in his arms and said, “there is no other place for you to be safe than right here with me.”

I just melted.  Jesus feels that same way about you and me.  He loves me. He loves you.  He loves you so much that he laid down his life for you.  No one took it from him, he gave it, so that we could come to know, understand, and accept that he is our safe haven.  There is no other safe place than with Him.  He is love and nothing can separate us from the love of Christ. (Romans 8:35-39)

If you believe that, you don’t have to run anymore.  He loves you in immeasurable amounts.

You are His beloved and He is yours… Song of Solomon 2:16
