Freedom is Not Free Part 2
“For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.” ~ John 3:17
The World. What does that word mean to you?< Simply put, the world is the people. The earth is nature, the trees, ocean, flowers, animals etc. He sent his Son into the world. To save all the people.
Can you imagine going to a Battle, a War, and being the only one to fight? The only One who can save lives by dying yourself? And it’s not just any natural death. It’s being accused of something that you didn’t do. Being stripped, beaten, spat upon, vulgar things yelled in your face, and a crown of thorns being shoved on your head. It’s being thrown to the ground, hands spread, feet together, and being nailed to a tree. (Have you ever tried putting a nail into a tree?)
Jesus carried more than just the cross that day, you see he already knew brave soldiers would fight in armies for our physical freedoms, our rights, but we needed something more, something to go hand in hand with the valor of these fighting men and women. He needed to know that there would be a way for them to live eternally with the Father who created them. All sin is a crime, punishable and the consequence is death. Jesus carried that sin, the sin of mankind, from the beginning, to now… He was crucified for it.
The greatest miracle of all? He is Risen! He conquered death and the grave. Would you not follow him anywhere into battle? He made the way for you and me to be Free to worship our Father in heaven, to Love others as He loves us, and to share the good news of Jesus Christ. “Jesus said, I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”
As you daily welcome the freedom that our servicemen and women battled for and won…
Won’t you welcome the Love of the Father, His Son Jesus Christ and the free gift that he offers? The gift of salvation? The gift of Eternal Life?
